10 Years in the Laptop Business: Lessons on Cash Flow, Customers and Growth
After 10 years in the laptop trade, I have learned that entrepreneurship is more than buying and selling. It requires cash-flow discipline, good purchasing decisions, trust, customer understanding and the ability to adapt as technology and market conditions change. I have also learned that hard work alone is not enough. A business grows when I combine effort with strategy, proper records, strong supplier relationships, customer follow-up and systems that do not depend entirely on me. Not every sale is a good sale, and not every customer is the right customer. I have learned to focus on serving customers honestly, recommending products that fit their needs and protecting my margins from unrealistic demands. My biggest lesson is that lasting businesses are built through repeated good decisions. I must keep learning, protect my cash, build relationships and create a business that can grow beyond me.
