Atiku Demands Account of Subsidy Savings as Petrol Hits ₦1,450 Per Litre
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has asked the Federal Government to explain how oil revenues and savings from petrol subsidy removal have been managed as pump prices rise to as much as ₦1,450 per litre. He said higher petrol prices are raising the cost of transport, food, school runs, farming and manufacturing. He argued that Nigerians deserve a clear account of the funds saved after subsidy removal and the revenues earned from oil. Atiku called for a reconciliation of federation account revenues from 2023, including deductions, transfers, refunds and the beneficiaries of such payments. He also requested greater transparency around oil-production revenues, NNPC trading operations and infrastructure funds.
