Niger State Activist Threatens Revolution Over Ongoing Fulani Attacks

Niger State Activist Threatens Revolution Over Ongoing Fulani Attacks — 1 of 2
1 / 2

A video by a popular Niger State influencer has ignited debate over rising ethnic tensions following deadly clashes in Rafi Local Government. In the clip, the activist warns that he will lead a revolution to drive out Fulani communities if attacks on neighbouring tribes continue. He says years of peaceful coexistence will no longer protect those who use violence to seize ancestral lands. The violence reportedly began after a Fulani man was killed, triggering reprisal attacks on farming villages around Tegina, Tashan Bako and Kuwan Kasa. Homes were set ablaze, machetes were used against residents, and hundreds have been displaced. Official figures list at least 18 deaths, though locals suggest the toll may be higher. This incident underscores the recurring farmer-herder conflicts in Nigeria’s Middle Belt. Many fear that such rhetoric could further inflame tensions unless authorities address the crisis’s root causes.
