Air Chief Visits Ondo Crash Site, Promises Full Probe Into NAF-931 Tragedy
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has visited the site of the NAF-931 aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ilaje LGA of Ondo State. The aircraft was travelling from Benin to Lagos on a routine mission when it crashed on Monday, killing 25 Nigeria Air Force personnel. Aneke expressed condolences to the families of those who died and said the Air Force would provide welfare support. He said the victims were trained and professional officers who died while serving the country. He said a high-level investigation involving military and civilian aviation safety experts, the National Safety and Investigation Bureau and other relevant agencies would determine the cause of the crash. Recovery teams are working in the swampy terrain to retrieve wreckage, including the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder. The Air Chief also thanked Igbokoda residents, Ondo State authorities and emergency agencies for supporting the rescue and recovery operation.
