Chelle Backs Super Eagles to Respond Against Russia Despite Squad Absences
Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle says Nigeria are determined to return to winning ways against Russia in Tuesday’s international friendly in Nizhny Novgorod. Nigeria are coming off a 3-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. Chelle said his side lacked intensity in that match and wants a much sharper display against the Russians. Several regulars, including Wilfred Ndidi, Victory Akpe, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Raphael Onyedika, will miss the friendly through injury or club-related absences. Chelle said the match offers new players a chance to prove themselves in the national team shirt.
