No Vigilante Justice: Lagos CP Tijani Appeals for Calm After Toba Ijaya’s Death
In the aftermath of Toba Ijaya’s killing, Lagos State feels the strain of potential unrest. Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani convened leaders of the NURTW and RTEAN to urge restraint. He assured Lagosians of a thorough, transparent investigation and promised that those responsible will be arrested and prosecuted. The CP warned against any attempt to take the law into individual hands. He called on the public to share credible information with security agencies and stressed that disruptions to public peace would be met with firm action. Leaders of both transport unions expressed gratitude for the police intervention. They pledged full cooperation and vowed to hand over any member who violates peace directives. With heightened surveillance and united commitments from the police and union heads, Lagos aims to maintain order and ensure justice follows due process.
