Man Says He Spent Over ₦50,000 on Date Before Learning Woman Was Married

Man Says He Spent Over ₦50,000 on Date Before Learning Woman Was Married

A Nigerian man says he spent more than ₦50,000 on a restaurant date with a woman he met online, only to learn afterwards that she was married. He said they had chatted for some time before he invited her to his home. She reportedly declined and suggested a restaurant instead. According to him, she had already begun ordering food and drinks before he arrived, and the bill kept rising during the date. He claimed he later booked a ride to his house for them, but the woman then disclosed that she was married and would not be intimate with him. He said she had never mentioned her marriage during their conversations, despite allegedly receiving money from him on several occasions.

The restaurant suggestion itself was not the issue; the uncomfortable part is that he says he learned she was married only afterwards.

Spending over ₦50,000 can hurt, but paying for a date does not automatically create an entitlement to someone's full personal history.

Before planning costly dates, both people can be clearer about intentions and relationship status, then choose a budget they are comfortable with.
