Why Mary Cannot Intercede for the Living According to Scripture
It is a mistaken belief that Mary, angels or any deceased saint can intercede for a living person. Mary was honored as Jesus’ mother and served God’s purpose, but she is not superior to other believers. Mary herself had to trust in Christ to be saved, just as we all must. Granting her special intercessory power has no basis in Scripture. Only Jesus, the risen Lord, intercedes for our sins. As Jesus declares in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” We must rely on biblical teaching, not unfounded traditions.
