NCDC Offers ₦100,000 Weekly Support for Ebola Contacts in Abuja
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says people placed in isolation or quarantine over the Ebola outbreak in Abuja will receive ₦100,000 per person weekly. The emergency support is intended to cover feeding, accommodation and basic family needs during monitoring. NCDC Director-General Dr Jide Idris said the measure followed complaints from contacts about the financial burden of complying with isolation and public-health monitoring. He said the arrangement would be reviewed as the outbreak response continues. Health authorities have identified 53 primary contacts linked to one confirmed imported Ebola case. They are being monitored for 21 days, while the agency strengthens contact tracing, testing, protective supplies and infection-control measures across health facilities.
