HBO’s Harry Potter TV Series Will Reintroduce Hogwarts With a New Cast

HBO has released a teaser for its upcoming Harry Potter television series, offering fans a first look at a new generation of Hogwarts students and teachers. Dominic McLaughlin stars as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The series also features John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. For many viewers, the biggest adjustment will be seeing familiar characters played by faces different from the film cast they grew up with. Unlike the eight-film adaptation, the new production plans to devote a full season to each of J.K. Rowling’s seven books. The first season, based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day 2026. The longer format could give the story, characters and magical world more room than the films had.
