TMC Lecture Calls for Ethical Leadership and Stronger Safety Nets for Nigerians
Speakers at the Muslim Congress annual state lecture in Akure urged leaders to embrace integrity, accountability, justice and inclusive governance as foundations for national development. Dr Sirojudeen Bakrin, Chief Imam of Fountain University, said Nigeria’s setbacks were driven less by limited resources than by a shortage of ethical and accountable leadership. He also urged citizens to reject vote-buying and support candidates based on character, competence and commitment to public service. The group also called for practical measures to ease the impact of rising petrol prices and the high cost of living. Back-to-school materials were distributed to indigent Muslim pupils in Akure, Owena, Odigbo and Okitipupa local government areas.
