Matawalle Visits Egypt to Explore Defence Manufacturing and Ammunition Partnership
Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle led a Nigerian delegation to Egypt for meetings on defence production and possible industrial partnerships. The delegation visited Eagle International for Defence Systems in Suez and held talks with Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production in Cairo. Discussions covered joint manufacturing of selected military equipment through the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and the possible establishment of an ammunition production line in Nigeria. The Federal Government says the proposed partnership is aimed at improving local defence production, transferring technical knowledge, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthening the operational capacity of the Armed Forces. Both countries are expected to continue discussions towards formal agreements.
