Paid in Full: God’s Ultimate Payment for Our Debt
In the Old Testament, forgiveness came through a sacrificial lamb. A priest would shed its blood to atone for sin. From Abel’s first offering to Solomon’s grand temple sacrifices, countless animals died. Yet their blood could not fully clear our debt. Each sacrifice pointed forward, waiting for the Lamb whose gift would end all sacrifices. When Jesus cried, “It is finished,” he announced our debt paid in full. At that moment, the temple curtain was torn from top to bottom, opening the way into God’s presence. Today we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. As written in Hebrews, we may come boldly to receive mercy and find grace to help in times of need.
