Benue Mortuary Attendant Arrested for Using Corpse Leg as Walking Stick

Residents in Agwabi community of Buruku LGA, Benue State, were shocked when a mortuary attendant was caught using a severed corpse leg as a walking stick. The man, identified as Amaobi, allegedly took the limb to a local shop while trying to buy items. Angry youths detained him on the spot and handed him over to the Benue State Police Command. He confessed his aim was to draw attention to the mortuary’s poor condition, where over 18 unclaimed bodies remain unattended. The incident has sparked calls for a full investigation and improved oversight of mortuary operations in the state. Authorities have yet to release an official statement.
