Final Call for Nigerians in South Africa as FG Extends Evacuation to July 10

Final Call for Nigerians in South Africa as FG Extends Evacuation to July 10

The Federal Government has urged Nigerians feeling unsafe in South Africa to register for the last evacuation flights. The appeal comes amid ongoing xenophobic protests and attacks on migrants. Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu warned that the final flight will leave Johannesburg on July 7 and arrive back in Nigeria by July 10. She noted that President Bola Tinubu approved this extension after the initial deadline of June 30. The minister expressed deep concern over recent fatalities, including Musa Yunana Joe and Charles Iroegbu. She demanded a full investigation and justice from South African authorities. Citizens still weighing their options are advised to act now. Properties can be replaced, she said, but lives cannot.

If you decide to register, double check your documents now and contact the local consulate before the July 10 deadline to secure your spot.
