Rivers United Hold San Pedro to 1-1 Draw in CAF Champions League Opener
Rivers United came from behind to secure a valuable 1-1 draw against Ivorian club San Pedro in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie. After a goalless first half at the Laurent Pokou Stadium, Issouf Dosso gave San Pedro the lead 11 minutes after the break following a defensive error. Rivers United responded in the 69th minute as substitute Iyowuna Douglas scored just three minutes after coming on. The result leaves the tie evenly balanced ahead of the decisive second leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday, 13 September. A home win will send Finidi George's side into the next preliminary round.
