Flashback: EFCC Raid on Saheed Osupa’s Home Over Imaginary N3M Party

In 2007, officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided Fuji star Saheed Osupa’s Akin Baruwa residence at around 9am over rumours that he had organised a N3 million party. Mistaking the plain-clothed agents for armed robbers, Osupa confronted them in a brief brawl. He was overpowered by the operatives, hit on the head with a gun butt and taken to the EFCC’s Ikoyi office. There, he was questioned about hosting an extravagant event for a woman named Tope, who had been detained and released later that evening. Osupa later revealed he had received a letter on EFCC-style letterhead without an official logo and dismissed it as a prank. He insisted no such party ever took place and that he was wealthy enough to host it if it had.
