Lawyer Says Moroccan Woman Is Not With Sheikh Gumi, Confirms She Returned Home
A lawyer representing Khadija Diab has denied claims that the Moroccan woman is with Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi. She said Diab has been in Morocco since April 2026 after leaving Nigeria amid marital and domestic-abuse allegations. The lawyer said Diab sought help in October 2025 over alleged abuse, poor maintenance and other marital disputes. She was reportedly advised to undergo medical tests, which allegedly showed sexually transmitted infections. According to the lawyer, Diab asked to return home after becoming emotionally distressed. With her passport allegedly held by her husband, she was assisted to obtain an emergency travel document from Moroccan authorities. She said Moroccan immigration and the Moroccan Embassy confirmed Diab’s safe arrival, while legal proceedings seeking the dissolution of the marriage continue in Kaduna.
