Motorists Urge Soludo to Repair Onitsha-Owerri Road, Allege ARTMA Fines Over Pothole Diversions
Motorists on the Onitsha-Owerri Road have appealed to the Anambra State Government to urgently repair deep potholes that they say force vehicles into the opposite lane. A commercial bus owner alleged that ARTMA officials impounded his vehicle near St. Francis, Okpoko bypass, for a one-way violation. He said officers initially demanded a ₦300,000 fine, later reduced to ₦150,000 after an appeal. Drivers and commuters said the failed section around People's Club on Owerri Road has caused gridlock, vehicle damage and safety risks for months. They urged the government to fix the road while ARTMA insisted that motorists must still obey traffic rules.
