Ogunbote Explains Plateau United’s 2-0 Defeat to Rivers United

Plateau United technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote says his team’s slow start was costly in their 2-0 away defeat to Rivers United in the opening game of the 2026/27 NPFL season. Abdulrasheed Dabai and Wasiu Falolu scored for Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday. Ogunbote said Plateau United improved after the break following tactical changes, but added that poor reactions and the pitch conditions affected their ability to play freely. He said the team will take lessons from the loss into their Matchday Two fixture.
