Gunmen Kill Two Near Plateau Polytechnic, Forcing Students to Flee
Late Wednesday night in Ban community, suspected gunmen opened fire near Plateau State Polytechnic. Two people were killed and at least three others were wounded. Residents and off-campus students scrambled for safety after hearing rounds of gunshots. Hours earlier in Riyom Local Government, attackers ambushed youths travelling between Baten and Du’a villages. A 27-year-old man was shot dead, raising fears over a wave of violence in Plateau State. Rwang Tengwong of the Berom Youth Moulders confirmed both incidents and urged vigilance in Kwi, Wereng, and neighbouring communities. Calls to the Plateau State Police went unanswered as of press time. Students remain anxious about their safety as uncertainty grips Jos South, Barkin Ladi, and surrounding areas. Local reports say many abandoned their lodges fearing further attacks.
