A Nigerian Army colonel, Abdussalam Ude, was reportedly shot dead after resisting an attempted abduction at his home in Kurudu, Abuja, on Monday evening. The gunmen allegedly opened fire shortly after he arrived home and tried to take him away. He was said to have resisted despite being outnumbered before he was shot multiple times. His wife, driver and a security guard also sustained gunshot injuries and are receiving treatment. The Army had not issued an official statement at the time of the report, while security agencies investigate the attack and search for the assailants.
