Amusan, Ajayi, Nathaniel and Three Nigerian Relay Teams Qualify for Beijing 2027
Tobi Amusan, Kayinsola Ajayi and Ezekiel Nathaniel have secured automatic qualification for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing. Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m, mixed 4x100m and mixed 4x400m relay teams also booked their places. Amusan sealed her place in the 100m hurdles after a season-best 12.51 seconds in London. Ajayi matched his Nigerian 100m record of 9.84 seconds to win at the London Diamond League, while Nathaniel’s strong 400m hurdles season included a lifetime best of 47.11 seconds. At the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, the women’s 4x100m team ran 42.94 seconds. The mixed 4x100m quartet set an African record of 40.24 seconds, while the mixed 4x400m squad also secured qualification for Nigeria.
