Honouring Biafra Remembrance Day: Foundation Urges Care for Widows, Orphans and Elderly

Ikenga Abiama Dynasty Foundation of Igboland has urged governments, community leaders and civil society to prioritise the welfare of widows, orphans, the elderly and low-income families as they observe Biafra Remembrance Day. The organisation highlighted ongoing challenges such as economic deprivation, lack of social protection, inheritance disputes and limited access to healthcare, education and trauma support for vulnerable groups across the South-East. It called on federal, state and local authorities to expand social welfare programmes, improve transparency in service delivery and appealed to religious, traditional and development partners to back initiatives in education, healthcare, youth empowerment and community resilience.
