New Hampshire Fisherman Lands Record 1,116-Pound Bluefin Tuna
A fisherman in New Hampshire has set a new state record after catching a bluefin tuna weighing 1,116 pounds during an overnight trip from Rye Harbor. The crew had nearly ended the trip after hours of rough conditions and little success when the fish struck. They pursued it for about a mile before bringing it alongside the boat and towing it back to harbour for weighing. The catch beat the previous state record by more than 150 pounds and came close to the largest bluefin tuna ever recorded in United States waters. The fish is expected to be sold, while its tail will be kept as a memento of the record catch.
