Oman’s Foreign Minister Says Israel Pushed US Into ‘Catastrophic’ Iran War
Oman’s foreign minister, Badr Albusaidi, has accused Israel of persuading the Trump administration to abandon promising nuclear talks and launch an attack on Iran. Writing in a recent international magazine, he called the strikes “unlawful” and the resulting conflict a “grave miscalculation.” Albusaidi says substantive negotiations in Geneva were on the verge of a breakthrough. He notes that Iran offered key concessions on uranium enrichment and a future civil nuclear programme. Yet, just hours after those talks, US and Israeli forces bombed Iran, cancelling a planned follow-up session in Vienna. He argues the war is neither America’s nor Israel’s to win. Oman led regional efforts to prevent the conflict, with support from the UAE and Qatar. Albusaidi warns that prolonged fighting will breach international law and deliver no real victory to either side. The minister calls for an immediate halt to hostilities and a return to direct diplomacy. He cautions that a wider campaign would pull US troops into a new front and further destabilise the Middle East.
