Rivers Residents Demand Jobs, Better Roads and Services From 2027 Governorship Hopefuls
Residents of Rivers State have asked politicians seeking the governorship in 2027 to present clear plans for jobs, roads and public services. At a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, five governorship hopefuls signed a 13-point Citizens’ Charter of Demands. The charter highlights education, youth employment, healthcare, housing, environmental protection, agriculture and economic growth. Organisers said Rivers State’s oil wealth should deliver better living conditions for residents. Police representatives also warned political parties and youths against violence, vote-buying and electoral malpractice ahead of the polls. Some candidates outlined programmes focused on industrialisation, private investment, security, employment and social welfare.
