“Dress Is Not Consent”: Nigerian Mother Challenges Victim Blaming After Rape Tragedy

“Dress Is Not Consent”: Nigerian Mother Challenges Victim Blaming After Rape Tragedy — 1 of 4
1 / 4

A Nigerian mother of two has condemned those who blamed late Favour Agbro for her own assault. She shared a throwback photo of herself in university to prove that clothing is never an invitation for rape. Twenty-year-old Favour was a nursing student invited by a content creator to Asaba under the guise of mentorship. She was allegedly raped in his hotel room and later took her own life after recording a video about the ordeal. The mother insists she didn’t dress for attention when she was a virgin at university. “No one deserves to be assaulted regardless of what they wear,” she wrote. Her message is clear: stop judging survivors and end victim blaming.
