Falana Withdraws from Defence of Self-Styled PFIPC 'DG' Adeyemi
Femi Falana SAN has stepped back from representing Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be Director-General of the unrecognised PFIPC. Falana reportedly struggled to verify key documents and evidence needed to defend the allegations against the President’s Chief of Staff. Sources say Falana uncovered inconsistencies and possible fraud in Adeyemi’s claims. Despite earlier plans to secure Adeyemi’s safe court appearance, the defendant avoided trial, favouring media interviews and ultimately evading authorities until his arrest in Osun State. Falana did not appear for the July 14 hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, prompting a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest. The case has been adjourned to September 30, 2026, as questions persist over the legitimacy of PFIPC.
