Oyo Court: Husband Seeks Divorce After Wife’s Alleged Knife Threats and Infidelity
A man has asked the Grade Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, to dissolve his nine-year marriage over claims of infidelity, violence, and threats to his life. The plaintiff says his wife had a romance with a tricycle driver and exchanged daily love messages. He alleges she became violent after learning he was dating two women from his church, even threatening him with a knife on several occasions. He also described her as quarrelsome, blaming her for repeated disputes with neighbours that forced the family to move four times in eight years. He moved out last year for his safety but says she continues to humiliate him whenever they meet. He is seeking custody of their two older children and regular access to their youngest. She denies the charges but has expressed willingness to end the marriage. The court has adjourned for her defence.
