Kingibe Tells Wike: I Will Keep Demanding Accountability From FCT Administration

FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe says she will not be intimidated by insults, threats or political pressure as she continues to scrutinise the administration of the Federal Capital Territory. Her response followed remarks attributed to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who reportedly questioned her political future and described her as illiterate. Kingibe said the decision on who represents the FCT in the Senate in 2027 rests with voters. The dispute centres on Kingibe’s allegation that the FCT Administration obtained a loan without Senate approval. She challenged Wike to produce the National Assembly’s Votes and Proceedings showing where the loan was approved, insisting that public borrowing and government spending must be subject to legislative oversight. Kingibe added that women in public office should be able to raise difficult questions without personal attacks. She said she would remain focused on issues affecting FCT residents and on holding public officials accountable.
