APGA Tells Abaribe: You Were Suspended, Not Expelled – Resign or Lose Your Senate Seat
The Abia State chapter of APGA insists Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was suspended for alleged anti-party activities, not expelled. Party leaders pressed him to present proof of any sack letter or face vacating his seat. At a press briefing in Umuahia, Chairman Sunday Onukwubiri, deputy governorship candidate Obinna Ichita and publicist Chukwuemeka Nwokoro warned the Senate President to declare Abaribe’s seat vacant if he does not resign. They accused him of betraying the party that gave him its platform and of seeking to fabricate a dismissal letter. Senator Abaribe countered that an indefinite suspension lasting over six months effectively left him partyless. He rejected the sack-letter claims as ‘scandalous and insulting’ and cited court precedents of defecting lawmakers who retained their mandates.
