Troops of the 65 Battalion intercepted a truck carrying a large consignment of illicit drugs on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road on 9 July 2026. The operation followed actionable intelligence from a credible source. The driver was arrested after he failed to explain the ownership or destination of the drugs, which were bound for the Berger area of Lagos. The suspect and the recovered narcotics were handed over to the NDLEA Lagos State Command for further investigation. The General Officer Commanding 81 Division commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to sustain efforts to deny drug traffickers freedom of action within the division’s area of responsibility.

I'm not convinced this bust will make much difference if enforcement remains so unpredictable and corrupt practices persist.
