Soludo Faces Backlash Over Anambra’s Alleged Debt Records From Obi’s Tenure
Governor Charles Soludo has faced criticism after the Anambra State Government released records it said detailed debts and outstanding obligations from Peter Obi’s time as governor. The state government said Obi’s administration left loans, salary arrears, pensions and gratuities totalling about ₦127 billion for subsequent administrations. It added that the Soludo administration had cleared about ₦22 billion in inherited gratuity arrears owed to retired state and local government workers and teachers. Several social media users questioned the figures and accused the governor of pursuing political disagreements with his predecessor. Others called for more context, including the exchange rate and the purposes for which the loans were obtained.
