WAFCON 2026: Toni Payne Says Super Falcons Are Ready for Cameroon’s Physical Test
Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne says Nigeria are prepared for Cameroon’s physical style in Sunday’s WAFCON 2026 quarter-final. Nigeria recovered from an opening 3-2 loss to Malawi with wins over Zambia and Egypt to reach the last eight. Cameroon topped Group D after beating Ghana and Mali and drawing with Cape Verde. The teams last met at this stage in 2022, when Nigeria won 1-0 through Rasheedat Ajibade’s second-half goal. Payne said the Falcons are confident, experienced and focused on progressing as they chase an 11th WAFCON title.
