2027: Wike Says Rivers Will Back Tinubu Over Amaechi and ADC

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says Rivers State will support President Bola Tinubu over Rotimi Amaechi and the African Democratic Congress in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Wike recalled Amaechi’s support for Muhammadu Buhari against then-President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. He said Amaechi had described Buhari as a “brother” who would identify with Rivers people. Wike accused the former transportation minister of neglecting Rivers State, alleging that the proposed University of Transportation was moved to Daura, Katsina State. He argued that Tinubu has shown greater support for Rivers, citing recent leadership appointments at the University of Port Harcourt and the new University of Environment.
