Thomas Reis Takes Over at Trabzonspor as Onuachu Eyes Fresh Start

Trabzonspor have appointed German coach Thomas Reis as their new head coach following Fatih Tekke’s resignation. Reis previously played alongside Super Eagles great Austin Jay Jay Okocha at Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1990s. The appointment gives Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu a fresh opportunity to establish himself under a new manager. Onuachu returned to Trabzonspor permanently in 2025 after an earlier loan spell and has remained an important attacking option. The coaching change comes as Onuachu works his way back from an injury that ruled him out of Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches. Chibuike Nwaiwu, who made the Super Eagles squad, will also hope to impress under Reis at club level.
