Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says his father believed Max Dowman was already a better player than Wilshere at the same age. Wilshere recalled handing Dowman a place in Arsenal’s Under-18 side when he was 13. After watching the youngster’s first game, Wilshere invited his father to see him play. His father’s verdict was simple: “He’s better than you.” Dowman has since continued to make headlines with his rapid rise at Arsenal.
