Tony Elumelu Calls on Africa to Embrace Investment and Move Beyond Colonial Mindset

In a recent interview at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Tony Elumelu urged African nations to look ahead instead of dwelling on colonial grievances. He said the continent needs massive private investment to drive development and generate opportunities for its youth. Elumelu argued that Africa must shed the “victim mentality” and focus on strengthening infrastructure, electricity, transport, security and internet access. He stressed that job creation for a rapidly growing young population should be a top priority. Some will welcome this vision, while others caution against unchecked foreign influence.
