SGF Akume Clarifies President Tinubu’s Official Title

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has corrected the official appellation for President Bola Tinubu after repeated errors by some media outlets. In a statement signed by Senator George Akume, the SGF urges the public and media organisations to verify titles before publication to avoid embarrassing mistakes. He confirmed the correct form as ‘His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria’. Akume advised that verification be made through the OSGF’s official communication channels. The clarification follows a naming error by a national daily on May 7, 2026.
