Oyo Woman Allegedly Confesses to Selling Her Children and Kidnapping Others
Oyo State Police Command has paraded Adejoke Popoola, a suspected member of an alleged child-trafficking syndicate, in Ibadan. Police say she confessed to selling four of her biological children before becoming involved in the abduction and sale of other children. Popoola allegedly said the operation began in October 2024 and involved the sale of newborns and twins. She claimed a clinic operator bought some of the children and resold them to buyers in Lagos. She also alleged that she posed as a spiritualist to gain the trust of parents of children living with disabilities. Police say she confessed to taking a three-year-old boy during an Egungun festival in Oyo Town. The claims remain allegations pending investigation and prosecution.
