INEC Says Upgrading BVAS Beyond Android 10 May Require New Hardware

INEC says its Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices were bought in 2021 with Android 10 and were configured to work efficiently on that operating system. According to the commission’s ICT director, moving the devices to a newer Android version may require upgrades to components such as RAM and other hardware. He said this could be necessary to prevent slower performance and maintain the system’s reliability.
