FG Orders Full Probe After 37 Suspected Illegal Miners Die in NSCDC Custody
The Federal Government has promised a transparent and impartial investigation into the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State. The miners were arrested during operations against illegal mining in the Wushishi/Lukoto area. The Minister of Interior has suspended the NSCDC commandant in Niger State and ordered a full investigation. The government said nobody found responsible will be shielded, while urging the public not to prejudge the outcome of the investigation. It also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Niger State.
