Actor Alleges Chinese Retailers Are Undermining Igbo Businesses

Veteran Nollywood actor Joseph Okechukwu has reacted to protests by Igbo traders at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex over Chinese nationals taking part in retail trading. He alleged that the Federal Government enabled the influx of Chinese traders to weaken Igbo-owned businesses. He also criticised claims that land was being made available to Chinese businesses for that purpose. Okechukwu said the South-East should prioritise its own economic development and predicted that more manufacturing companies would emerge across the region. The allegations were presented as his views and were not supported with evidence in the post.
