Operation Hadin Kai: Nigerian Forces Free 360 Hostages from JAS Hideout
According to military officials, troops of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai have successfully freed 360 men, women and children from a fortified Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) enclave in the Mandara Mountains of southern Borno State. Weeks of human intelligence, drone surveillance and signals intercepts mapped insurgent positions and hostage locations. Psychological operations sowed confusion among the terrorists and disrupted their command structure. Under cover of darkness, Special Forces and Sector 1 troops conducted a multi-axis assault that achieved complete tactical surprise. All hostages were recovered and evacuated to safety, though two infants later died from exhaustion after prolonged captivity.
