ADC Backs Ward’s Suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe Over Campaign Funds
Just a day after her Wuse ward indefinitely suspended Senator Ireti Kingibe, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has thrown its weight behind the decision. The party alleges she withheld funds earmarked for the recent Area Council election campaign. ADC officials also claim Senator Kingibe initially provided an office for party use, only to retrieve it later without explanation. They say ADC meetings are still held under trees despite having a serving senator in the FCT. Repeated calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages from ARISE News to Senator Kingibe went unanswered at the time of reporting. In an open letter titled “The Many Sins of Distinguished Senator Ireti and Why Her Suspension Is Justifiable,” the ADC FCT publicity secretary, Samuel Chukwudi Nwigbo, questions how the party could field a candidate who refused to campaign openly in her own constituency.
