Lessons from the Parable of the Vineyard Tenants (Matthew 21:33–46)

Jesus tells of a landowner who plants a vineyard and entrusts it to tenants. When harvest time comes, the tenants beat and kill his servants sent to collect the fruit. Finally, the owner’s son arrives, but they kill him too. Jesus asks what the owner will do. The tenants are judged and replaced by others who will honour the harvest. He then quotes Isaiah to show that the rejected stone becomes the cornerstone. This parable warns that God’s kingdom will be taken from those who reject his messenger and given to those who bear its fruit. It challenges us to recognise Jesus as the cornerstone and to live in faithful obedience.
