Cristiano Ronaldo has called for lifetime stadium bans for Al-Hilal supporters who taunted Ruben Neves with chants about the late Diogo Jota during Saturday's Saudi Pro League match against Al-Taawoun. Neves, a close friend and former teammate of Jota, was preparing to take a free-kick when a section of the crowd repeatedly chanted Jota's name. He reacted by applauding sarcastically and pointing towards the sky. Jota and his brother, André Silva, died in a car crash in Spain in July 2025. Ronaldo said the league must punish fans involved in such behaviour and insisted that football must have limits.
