State Police: IGP Disu Says Nigeria’s Framework Drew Lessons From India, US and Pakistan
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu says the committee that drafted Nigeria’s proposed state police framework studied policing models in India, the United States and Pakistan. Speaking at a state police workshop in Abuja, Disu urged police officers to participate in the national debate through informed analysis, public enlightenment and constructive contributions. He said the police committee produced its initial framework in 17 days and that governors’ committees are now deliberating on it. Former Inspectors-General of Police have also reviewed the document and suggested improvements as work continues on the proposal.
