Oyo Pupils and Teachers Kidnapped by Bandits Freed After Seven Weeks

Oyo Pupils and Teachers Kidnapped by Bandits Freed After Seven Weeks

There was widespread relief on Friday as pupils and teachers abducted from a school in Orire Local Government Area, Oyo State, regained their freedom after more than 50 days in captivity. Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed their safe return and thanked security operatives, local vigilantes and other stakeholders for their coordinated efforts. The rescued pupils and teachers are now receiving medical care and psychosocial support to help them recover from the traumatic ordeal. Residents and parents have welcomed their release, and authorities say they will continue strengthening security measures to prevent future attacks on schools.
